Akwa Ibom State has established Primary Health Care Development Agency and other projects to begin Governor Udom Emmanuel’s completion agenda.
This is in line with the governor’s belief that primary healthcare, which is affordable to the grassroots, is key to healthy living.
Governor Emmanuel had expressed strong determination and commitment to revamp the poor health facilities in the state in fulfilment of his campaign promises.
Another milestone achieved within the governors first 100 days in his second tenure was the commissioning of the reconstructed and equipped General Hospital in Oron, Immanuel General Hospital in Eket, and Cottage Hospital in Awa.
He has also started training and redeploying medical personnel, as well as setting up an emergency response team for the state.
Speaking on the milestones, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Ekerete Udoh, said that his principal’s avowed commitment to his completion agenda had almost pushed the Uyo-Ikot Ekpene road to a logical conclusion.
Udoh said the governor had also, within the first 100 days, ensured not just commencement of commercial operation for Ibom Air, but has expanded its scope of operation to ensure ease of movement for investors coming to the state.
He described the team handling the Kings Flour Mills as the biggest flour producers in Europe, assuring that its arrival in Akwa Ibom justified the claim that Governor Emmanuel’s investor-friendly policies and investment in peace and security were transforming the state into an enviable industrial hub within the Gulf of Guinea.
The flour plant is billed for commissioning on September 23 as part of events marking the 32nd anniversary of the state’s creation.
With the expected production capacity of 500 metric tonnes per day, the plant will, according to the state government, create over 1,000 job opportunities, and is capable of turning the state into a major bakery hub in the region.
In the area of security, within the period under review, the governor donated 12 more patrol vehicles to the police to help curb the excesses of criminals in the state.
